Nha Trang construction update – 2020 edition

November 5, 2020 By James Clark Leave a Comment

Nha Trang was in the midst of a construction boom in 2019, with Cam Ranh International Airport reaching 10 million passengers for the first time. As I noted in my Vietnam aviation report for 2019, Cam Ranh airport was serving flights to 30 cities in mainland China every week.

I visited in May 2019 and the city was buzzing with activity. What a difference a year makes. With the global pandemic bringing international tourism to a standstill, many of the tourism-related shops have closed down.

On the construction front, there are still projects that are working their way through the downturn, while others have been put on hold even when they have nearly been completed.

This is my trip report from my visit in October/November 2020. It’s a snapshot of Nha Trang construction activity over the last year, so anything built before then is not shown here. For a full list of construction projects, visit the Future Nha Trang page.

Address: 40 Tran Phu, Nha Trang.

Tropicana Nha Trang / Beau Rivage Nha Trang began construction but has stalled midway through building the podium. This project still has confusing branding issues as well, using two names. It has been promoted as Beau Rivage but the Beau Rivage website now redirects to Tropicana.
